Huh, this was really long! Lemme try to summarize: they wanted not only desegregation by race, but also no grouping by ability, because that looked bad for the less gifted black children. This really destroyed everything for the more gifted black children. In other words, putting more gifted and less gifted children on the same curriculum, does not uplift the less gifted, it pushes down the more gifted.
